  18. A full 040 is an expensive chip.  Perhaps a way around this would  be for 
  19. Escom/AT to leave the 040 socket empty with some of their systems so that 
  20. dealers could put a full 040 in it.

  32. Escom/AT could ship an LC040/33 system to most places where putting the 
  33. CPU in themselves is out of the question (most large computer stores or 
  34. shopping centers).  BUT, people who would want an FPU would not be left 
  35. out in the cold.  They could get it just as easily from a mail order 
  36. house (which thrives from its mass number of configurations), to the 
  37. small back-of-the-way Amiga shop.  Also, people who got an LC version 
  38. originally could latter drop in a full RC040 CPU.  (They'd probably move 
  39. up to a PPC, but the fact remains that they COULD do it if they wanted).
